A Family Place (AFP) is the Relief Nursery of Yamhill County, which supports 60 families throughout the county. AFP runs early childhood classrooms, offers parent education, provides basic needs assistance, and more, all from their First Baptist Church location. And they have continued to find new & different ways to do all of this during the pandemic! In the past we’ve offered these families Boxes of Hope, filled with perishable and non-perishable food and home items, but AFP is currently partnering with YCAP to deliver food boxes to many of their families each week. So, this year, we’re doing something new!
As a way to care for these families, a part of our FBC community, we will provide a BAG and a CARD for each family – a Christmas bag filled with $10 worth of staple items for the home, and a $20 gift card to help families buy gifts for their children. We hope this will meet a need for these families AND help them give personal, meaningful gifts to one another. Here’s how it works!
- Let Sean know that you want to help, and how many families you want to support.
- For each family:
- buy $10 worth of staple items that can’t be purchased with food stamps (like toilet paper, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, soap, zip lock bags, tin foil, paper towels, etc.)
- buy a $20 gift card to a local store where families can buy gifts for their children (Walmart, Bi-Mart, etc.)
- Put the staple items & gift card in a nice Christmas bag, and put a note with your name on the bag.
- Drop off the bag at the church by December 11 so that the AFP staff can deliver the next week.
Contact Sean if you have any questions. Thank you for being part of this special way to support these families this Christmas!
