maundy thursday & good friday

On Thursday, April 17, we remember the last time Jesus gathered with his friends, the promises he made to always be with them, and the instructions he left about how they are to love one another. We’ll hear these old words anew, spend time in meditation, and close listening to a violin performance that will invite us to dwell in the mystery, sorrow, and hope of the remembrance. This service begins at 7pm in the FBC Social Hall.

On Good Friday, April 18, we’ll participate in an ecumenical worship service centered on the Stations of the Cross, remembering Jesus’ journey long ago and remembering those in our own world who still walk difficult roads. This gathering is a chance to mourn both ancient and contemporary violence, and to commit ourselves to a new way. The service begins at 7pm in the sanctuary of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church (822 Sw 2nd Street); you are invited to come at 6:45 to peruse the stations and choose a seat near one that speaks to you.
